Gippsland’s own Magpies and Giants will play as the curtain raiser before the AFLW Round 4 clash at Morwell Recreation Reserve this Sunday.
Sale and Korumburra-Bena youth girls teams will play off. Both teams are relatively new to women's football - Sale just 1 season old, while the Giants have 2 seasons and a premiership under their belt. Both teams have also managed to secure a significant number of players from local communities.
The local match will commence in Morwell at midday, prior to the main game at 2:05pm.
Sale team coach Marcus Grubb told Hit News this morning the prospect of the match has seen more than the usual numbers of players at pre-season training. "We've been training for a few weeks now and I think the last 3 or 4 weeks I've had more girls at training every Tuesday and Thursday night than what I did all of last year".
