Almost $50 Million has been contributed by the Morrison Government to help support projects in the critical minerals sector.

The Government’s $1.3 billion Modern Manufacturing strategy is now centered around The Modern Manufacturing initiative.

Manufacturing Funding Increased:


The Manufacturing initiative provides funding for a number of transformational projects that will create or facilitate collaborative ecosystems.

It attempts to establish Australia as an internationally recognised sustainable and high-quality manufacturing nation.  

Australian Vanadium Limited (WA) will use $3.9 million to improve manufacturing battery systems, mining, agriculture and remote communities.

In addition, Albemarle Lithium (WA), will use $4.9 million of the funding to transform lithium into use for the construction sector.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Christian Porter believes Australia’s energy storage market in 2027 will be worth around $27 billion.

“It is also critical that we build our sovereign capability in this sector, with China currently the world leader in critical minerals processing including battery production”, said Porter.

If you are a large scale manufacture check out the Eligibility here. All eligible applicants can receive grants from $20 million up to $200 million.
