Police have launched a public appeal to help locate a man who went missing from Morriset Hospital last week.

Jackson Melrose was last seen at Morisset Railway Station around 5pm on Wednesday January 9.

He's described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion and short dark hair, about 170 -175 cm tall with a goatee beard and brown eyes.

When he disappeared he was wearing, shorts, t-shirt and thongs.

It's believed Jackson will not have access to money or a mobile phone.

There's now growing concerns for his welfare as the 25 year old requires medication regularly for a condition.

He is known to frequent the Wakefield and Edgeworth areas.

Police from Lake Macquarie Police District are urging anyone who sights Jackson not to approach him, but to contact officers immediately on Triple Zero.
