Last night’s massive $70m Oz Lotto jackpot has been won by two people, however, has been split three ways!

A spokesperson from The Lott has confirmed with us that the Division One winner is a man from St Albans, Melbourne.

“It was a pretty remarkable lotto draw. We had $70 million up for grabs, three Division One winning entries, but two of those entires were held by that one person,” he explained.

“We reached out to that person yesterday, and they couldn’t believe it… At first he didn’t realise he held those two tickets, so he was pretty excited with $23.3 million, even more excited with $46.6 million.”

The chances of winning Division One in Oz Lotto in a standard 12 game entry are about 1 in 3.78 million… so the chances of this happening are really, really unheard of.

Although we still don’t really know exactly HOW this happened, we do know that the man used the same numbers he always does.

“He’s been a hardworking man who’s marked his lottery entry for a number of years using the same numbers. There seemed to be a bit of confusion and that led to him having two identical entires in the one draw."

As for what he will do with his winnings, the spokesperson says he was still pretty “shocked and flabbergasted by the whole news”, but “an upgrade to the home and a family holiday [is] certainly on the cards” as well as early retirement.

Officials are also urging people from Hobart to check their tickets because the other winner still hasn’t been found!

“We are still on the lookout for holder of the other division one winning entry from last night’s oz lotto draw. This was an entry that was purchased in Hobart at Hobart City Lotto.”
