Mayor Tom Tate has called on the Crime Conduct Commission (CCC) to get a wriggle on with its investigation into Gold Coast City Council.

It's been 14 months since the CCC announced the investigation in February 2018, looking into allegations of corrupt conduct involving the decision-making of some councillors.

The mayor this week called on the report to be finalised to put the matter to bed, or at least release an interim report.

"Justice delayed is justice denied," said Cr Tate.

"Why don't you do an interim report?

"Surely you've found some findings, whether it's positive or negative.

"I believe they're looking for a needle in a hay-stack, and in this one there's no needle there, so they keep looking."
