Explosives have been found at a house in Adelaide's north prompting a response from the police bomb squad and a hazardous materials team.

Police patrols went to the Davoran Park home on Monday night and arrested and charged a 43-year-old man with the possession and manufacture of explosives.

He has been refused police bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police say there is no threat to nearby residents.
