Mackay and CQ MPS are calling for an investigation into what caused last week’s intense Bushfires. Though the government has pointed the finger of blame at climatechange, they say there's still more that could have been done. L-N-P Senator Matt Canavan says that while they're glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been, the Bushfires need to be investigated.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford has confirmed they will conduct a review. He says the review is standard practice after major events and a similar one was done following Cyclone Debbie. He's tasking the independent Inspector-General Emergency Management to review preparedness and response elements across the State, 

 

Work on Vines Creek Bridges has wrapped up months early. The bridges were opened yesterday by Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert  who says the project has been a great success. The $28 million works provide a Higher Mass Limit route from the Highway to the port.

 

Human powered vehicles will supercharge Mackay's STEM participation. The Race is set to take place at Palmyra Dragway in June as part of the Whitsunday STEM Challenge
