Raising funds for Walk to Work day!

This Friday is Walk to Work day and Sunraysia residents are being asked this year to lace up their shoes in the name of stamping out diabetes.

Nearly 37,000 people in the Murray Primary Health network are living with type 2 diabetes; and as part of the pledge, people are being asked to donate $20 to Diabetes Australia.

Ideas such as walking meetings, walking around at lunchtime or using the stairs instead of a escalator are being proposed as methods to get people active, particularly in sedentary jobs.

The Pedestrian Council of Australia's Harold Scruby says walking to work can make you more productive, reduce stress and improve your general health.
