Council have scheduled rehabilitation works for MIDGE POINT following Cyclone Debbie. The restorations works will mean a geobag wall will be installed north of Bundesen Avenue. It'll be covered with sand and revegetated to protect from severe weather in the future. Works will commence late September.
Minister for Jobs and Innovation Michaelia Cash visited MACKAY's MyneSight. They're receiving 200 thousand dollars to go towards their 400 grand underground simulator project. They're one of four companies to receive funds under the Industry Growth Centre Initiative.
MACKAY Lifestyle Choices has been nominated for the Awards Australia Small Business Achievement Award. Judging will get underway on the 5th October with winners announced at an Awards Gala Presentation in November. A tri-service Cadets Exercise has taken over John Breen Park. For the second year in a row following a ten year break the cadets came together Sunday as part of a bonding exercise. Undertaking marching practice, tug of war, model aeroplane relays and first aid trials. It gives the kids the chance to train together and see what the other services have to offer.
EX Australian Defence Force Personnel are in high demand for public service jobs. Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert says the State Government wants more veterans in the service and are offering a new veterans employment program. It'll champion the recruitment of veterans with Government agencies as a priority. An online careers fair for ex-ADF staff is being planned for November
Mackay Meteors slip down the leaderboard following the weekend's games. Meteors now sit second despite a win over Ipswich Force at home on Friday. They still displayed dominance beating Force 96-68
