Australia's bespoke breweries and distilleries are enjoying a round on the government with the 2021–22 Federal Budget serving up some good news.

In a bid to boost Australia's alcohol manufacturing sector, from July 1, local small breweries can claim a full refund on any excise they pay of up to $350,000 each year.

Up to this juncture boutique brewers and distillers had only been entitled to a maximum refund of 60 percent, capped annually at $100,000.

Independent Brewers Association Chairman, Peter Philip states the tax relief should offer our local beer and spirit scenes a huge boost.

"Small brewers and distillers are going to be pumping this money into technology, capability, capacity, and most importantly, people" he said during an interview   with Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

The government's post-Covid recovery push will see regional brewers expand their businesses, hire extra staff, buy new equipment and build upon their dreams.
