Appearing at Glastonbury Festival, Johnny Depp made comments regarding U.S President Donald Trump that had the crowd both cheering and jeering.

In the festival’s drive-in movie theatre, Johnny introduced a screening of his 2004 film The Libertine when he brought up Trump.

He first asked, “Can you bring Trump here?” which had the crowd booing.

Clarifying his opinion of the President, he went on.

“You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?

"I want to clarify. I’m not an actor. I lie for a living [but] it's been a while. Maybe it's about time… Just a question.”

He then concluded, “By the way, this is going to be in the press and it'll be horrible. It's just a question, I'm not insinuating anything."

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s assumption has been proven correct, with tweets flooding in from the public condemning his words.

Whether Johnny was aware or not, just days ago a gunman actually shot and injured a Republican congressman as well as four others in Virginia.
