Fire continues to tear through the state's eastern Wheatbelt and south-west corner leaving a path of destruction.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services commissioner Darren Klemm said conditions were extremely challenging across bother areas.

“There’s still a lot of work to do on those fires,” he said. “There was a point yesterday with the fire in Bruce Rock where the fire was actually 35km long.“

BUSHFIRE EMERGENCY WARNINGS:

A bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING remains in place for people in an area bounded by South Western Highway to the west, Hester-Cascades Road to the north, Bridgetown-Boyup Brook Road to the east, and Whittels Road and Henderson Road to the south, including the HESTER townsite, in parts of KANGAROO GULLY, HESTER, HESTER BROOK and BRIDGETOWN in the SHIRE OF BRIDGETOWN-GREENBUSHES.

  • You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes.
  • The fire started near the intersection of HESTER CASCADES RD and SOUTH WESTERN HWY in HESTER BROOK.
