As remote learning begins for term three throughout Sydney, there have been talks of extending home learning restrictions beyond Friday.

With the Delta variant wreaking havoc across NSW, the original end date for remote learning could potentially be extended to a month.

The Premier initially announced that remote learning would end after four days, however, home learning may be extended after 112 new covid cases were identified yesterday.

Member of the NSW Teacher's Federation Angelo Gavrielatos said 37 young people between the ages of 10 and 19 years-old were found to have the strain.

"The delta variant is one where kids do catch it and transmit it... it's vitally important that we put health and safety first," Mr Gavrielatos said.

Remote learning was set to end on July 19th, however, Sydney residents may face an extension on current restrictions if the current break out is not contained.

The extension is still yet to be confirmed.
