You may have noticed that Melbourne has been dripped in red and gold – it’s Chinese New Year! The Year of the Pig has kicked off with a bang and the celebrations have only just begun.
If you missed the events on Tuesday, your opportunity hasn’t gone just yet! Here are some of the things you should check out…
1. HWKR’s Feast-ival
HWKR will be putting on special CNY banquets. Dessert is served by Scoopy Milk Bar and traditional Lion Dances and DJs will keep you entertained!

2. Oriental Teahouse & David’s
On Friday 8th, enjoy the firecrackers and Chinese dragons at either lunch or dinner. Dumplings, sticky pork belly and Peking duck pancakes galore.

3. Melbourne Central
Grab a cheeky cupcake or doughnut for free when you follow Melbourne Central on Instagram. Just be one of the first 200 people per day to visit guest services! There is also a giant inflatable flying pig installation.

4. Chinatown New Year Festival 2019
One of the biggest celebrations in town will be happening right in the CBD. Enjoy an outdoor cinema with pig-themed movies, mahjong games and a stack of hawker stalls.
