Stealing presents from under tree

It’s Christmas morning and the squeals of excited children echo throughout the house as they race each other to the Christmas tree in the hope of being first to un-wrap a present.

Well, that is supposed to be how it plays out in many households however for one Harristown family Christmas morning will be a sadder affair after thieves stole all their presents from under their tree.

Sometime between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday night, December 15, when the family were out, their Blackdown Street home was broken into and their Christmas stolen, with every single present taken.

Police are appealing for anyone in the local area who may have noticed anyone suspicious or anything ‘out of the ordinary’ in the Harristown area to contact them.

Senior Sergeant Greg Wheeler, Officer-In-Charge of Toowoomba Station said it was disappointing that people would steal Christmas presents.

“Christmas is a very special time of the year for most of us and to have someone break-into your home and take the presents that you have carefully selected and wrapped for your loved ones must be so disappointing.

“I urge anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact police and urge residents to remain vigil this holiday season, keeping an eye not only on their property but their neighbours too.”
