Gold Coast suburbs worst in QLD

You might notice a few cars around the Gold Coast with graffiti on them, slashed tires or smashed windows.

Three of our suburbs have been named by the RACQ as being among the worst in Queensland when it comes to car vandalism.

"This includes damage such as cars being keyed, we had a lot of reports of footprints and dents on top of cars, and also tires being slashed." said RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith.

According to insurance claims with the provider, Surfers Paradise and Nerang have made the list, while Southport took out the dishonourable title of worst suburb in the state.

Ms Smith said intentional-damage claims soared by 10 percent in the last year.

“It’s a big concern to motorists that we’ve seen these types of claims jump from 690 in 2015, to more than 780 last year,” she said.

The worst suburbs for malicious damage claims from 2014-2016 are:

6. Caboolture
7. Surfers Paradise
8. Maroochydore
9. Nerang
10. Rockhampton
