A man has admitted to stealing thousands of dollars from his grandmother to pay for his gambling addiction.

Llewellyn Heath pleaded guilty in Southport Court on Friday to 13 counts of fraud, and one count of attempted fraud.

The 33-year-old confessed to stealing his 82-year-old grandmother's key card and withdrawing $10,600 between July and August last year.

The court heard how he would steal the card while he visited Shirley Heath at her Ashmore nursing home.
