A former real estate agent has been busted working without a license.

The Hope Island resident pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court to acting as an agent after his license was cancelled due to bankruptcy in August last year.

The man continued to work for one business taking more than $16,000 in pre-paid commission.

He was fined $15,000 by the court on Monday and ordered to pay the client back.
