The monster monsoon that transformed our city, has been followed up with a monster clean up effort which has just finished.

The flood waste collection was a joint effort with Council crews and Australian Defence Force personnel doing pick-ups throughout suburbs including Idalia, Hermit Park, Railway Estate, and Oonoonba.

“There has been over 25,000 tonnes of waste recorded across all of our facilities and this includes what has been collected by the ADF and Council staff,” Cr Les Walker said.

So now the annual kerbside collection can begin, but please take close note of WHEN it's coming to your street.

Majority of the city agreed that last year our streets were looking disastrous due to locals dumping their hard waste on the kerb either too early or after the collection had been done.

Townsville's natural beauty is #onpoint at the moment, so let's keep the condition the same on our streets as well!

On Monday March 25 the 7 month mission will begin and Council are asking please don't put your unwanted items on the kerb until seven days before your collection date.
