Wearing life-jackets is about to become mandatory for rock fishers on the Central Coast.

At last night's meeting Council narrowly decided to opt-in to the state government's rock fishing safety act.

Mayor Jane Smith says this means all rock platforms exposed to ocean swell on the Coast will be considered 'high-risk fishing locations', including Snapper Point and Avoca Beach.
