Fire Scares Grip South-East Queensland

Fire crews remain on high on alert today for any flare ups after a horror weekend of blazes throughout Queensland's South.

Residents near Ipswich were among several areas told to prepare to evacuate on Sunday, but thankfully those warnings were downgraded last night.

Meanwhile a grass fire broke out at Canungra in the Gold Coast Hinterland overnight.

One woman was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, but turned down offers from paramedics to take her to hospital for observation.

It comes after all fire permits were cancelled last week in preparation for the dry and windy conditions.
