Coming together to heal

This morning on the show, Tim & Jess spoke to First Responder, Ian Avage about the brand new installation in Wodonga to pay tribute to the First Responders from the bushfires at the beginning of the year.

From July 2019 until March 2020 fires raged across the entire country and more than 11 million hectares were burnt.

While it was a devastating end of last year and start to this year, it's also a reminder just how raw it is and that this won't be the only time we will have horrible bushfires.

Curator Aimee Chan has spoken about the installation saying, “The project is made up of a combination of large scale images and a series of 6 podcast episodes that capture the first person experiences of three first responders during the bushfire season of 2019/2020.

The entire project was funded by local small businesses and all the physical labour was volunteerism. It is hoped that this will become an installation that will help the community remember, come together and heal”
