Despite the hopes of all Victorians, it looks like lockdown is likely to be extended beyond Tuesday night, but there has yet to be a heads up on an official announcement.

Victoria recorded 13 new local Covid-19 cases on Monday all linked to the current outbreak.

54,839 tests were recorded for Sunday, off the back of 14,758 vaccine jabs.

Longer lockdown looms for Victoria

Despite the Premier's aim to strike the right balance between enough notice and adhering to the latest health advice, the Opposition's David Southwick is calling Dan Andrews out to front the cameras.

"Whether or not this lockdown is going to be extended or not, its really causing anxiety levels for many Victorians, its sending many small business to the wall and I think Victorian's deserve to know"

Meanwhile, leading Melbourne epidemiologist Professor Catherine Bennett has told ABC it'll be hard for Victoria to lift lockdown as originally planned.

"The critical thing for us is while we are at this critical stage, having learnt from what happened in Sydney, that we have to really push hard now to find everyone exposed who could be a case while we still have a good grasp on where those exposure sites are"

- Prof. Catherine Bennett

Victoria's exposure sites are now more than 220, with new Tier one additions including Coles Richmond, Dan Murphy's in Brighton East and several vendors at the South Melbourne market.
