Supermarket giant Kaufland is looking at opening a mega supermarket in Oakleigh South.
Kaufland is a German supermarket similar to Costco, but without the membership fees - and the Herald Sun has revealed some new info.
The chain is looking at opening its Australian headquarters in Kingston with a mega story that would bring more than 100 jobs with it. The plan includes a 3610 sqm supermarket, bottle shop, foodhall, outdoor area and parking spaces.
Planning Minister Richard Wynne has “called in” the planning applications, a move which exempts Kaufland from requiring a planning permit from Kingston Council.
There’s also plans for Kaufland stores to open in Dandenong, Coolaroo, Chirnside Park and Mornington.
