The Federal Budget is set to be a major cash splash with the Treasurer out in full swing today talking up his big spend pre-election budget.
Josh Frydenburg will officially hand down his third budget tonight, with well-placed leaks revealing where the big bucks are going in order to get the country back on track and back to work. Top of the pops are investments in infrastructure and job creating initiatives.
But with an eye on current uncertainties the Treasurer at this morning’s press conference announced that we are still “in the midst of a global pandemic and we must secure our economic recovery”
Some of the major spends already unveiled include:
$10 billion on infrastructure
$10 billion to aged care
$1.7 billion in expanded childcare subsidies
$1.5 billion to clean energy and the environment
$74 million to mental health

Scott Phillips GM of The Motley Fool told Your Morning Agenda “it's a major cash splash”.
“On one level great news for the economy, great news for those still out of work …on the other hand how do we pay this back” he said.
In his pre-budget speech Josh Frydenburg outlined the major shifts including a focus on reducing unemployment.
“We will invest more in our Covid health response…in infrastructure and skills to create more jobs and incentives to businesses to do what they do best, to hire, innovate and grow” he said.
Women's safety will also be a key focus in Tuesday’s Federal Budget.
