The great daylight saving debate has fired up again in Queensland.

A new Galaxy poll has found 55 per cent of us are in favour of joining NSW and Victoria in turning our clocks forward a hour over summer.

It's led to renewed calls for another public vote on the issue, with Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate admitting to News Corp that he believes everyone should get a say.

The last referendum was held back in 1992 with the majority of Queenslanders voting against the change.
