The deaths of two dogs has sparked fears of "indiscriminate" poisoning at an inner Brisbane park.

The police and RSPCA are investigating amid concerns of more deaths from baiting at Waterfront Park in Newstead.

"What's concerning is that this is baiting that's been done in a public area," RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty told media.

"We receive a lot of reports about dog baiting all over the state but, mostly, that seems to involve neighbourly disputes or barking dog arguments.

"This seems to be totally indiscriminate, which is ever more concerning."

Police and the RSPCA have called for information from the public.
