I think nearly everyone in the Ville loves a backyard barbecue at this time of the year. With the smell of meat cooking and the Bluetooth speaker booming, the backyard barbie is a sweet place to be. Here’s my top 5 summer BBQ songs.
NUMBER 5
Len – Steal My Sunshine
This song was recently redone by Australia’s own Mashd N Kutcher. But the 1999 one hit wonder from Len gets my vote. I can recite this song word for word. Plus it’s about sunshine. A summer classic.
NUMBER 4
Justin Timberlake – Summer Love
Another really obvious entry with the word “summer” in the title. But I don’t care. This songs a banger. Turn it up.
NUMBER 3
Miley Cyrus – Party In The U.S.A
Don’t judge me. This tune is a guilty pleasure of mine and usually hits Spotify later in the night after one to many XXXX Summers. Nothing like dancing to classic Miley in double pluggers.
NUMBER 2
Guns N’ Roses – November Rain
This song seems out of place given the teenybopper nature of the list so far. But I do love the Gunners. I was one of the thousands that watched them live at the Reid Park V8 track in 2011. I’ll also often BBQ in my Guns N’ Roses singlet so this song seems appropriate.
NUMBER 1
Powderfinger – My Happiness
Music = happiness. Barbequed meat = happiness. Me holding the tongs is my happy place. Plus who doesn’t love one of Australia’s greatest ever rock bands. Powderfinger easily grabs the top spot.
