If you have any old lotto tickets in your handbag, wallet or glove-box you might want to get them checked!

Lotteries bosses said there were six winning tickets purchased in Queensland that still hadn't been claimed, worth more than $6,000,000 in prize money all up.

They date back to 2014, with a ticket worth $2,000,000 sold at a news agency in Cairns.

The most recent unclaimed prize was won on the Gold Coast on Saturday August 11, with a ticket purchased at Golden Lucky News in Helensvale winning $671,513.

Matt Hart said Australians had a history of storing lottery tickets in weird and wonderful places.

“We’ve had past winners come forward after finding an old ticket in the back of a drawer, in the central console of their car, and at the bottom of their handbag," he said.

“Some players have also told us they keep tickets in their underwear drawer or freezer for safe keeping.

“We never lose hope of uniting winners with their prizes; afterall, we’ve had winners happily discover their windfall weeks, months and even years after their win,” said Mr Hart.
