Central Queensland Wins Across the Board in State Budget

There are plenty of winners across Central Queensland as the dust settles on the state budget.

CQ's housing crisis will be addressed as part of a $2.9 billion social housing investment.

Other highlights include $140 million for Rookwood Weir, $5.7 million for local drug rehab services.

“Close to $50 million is going to be spent on improving our Central Queensland schools, and that’s great news for teachers and students, but also for local tradies who will get the opportunity to build these projects, new classrooms, new halls, new improvements and amenities at schools right across the region.”

Mackay will see the Bruce Highway from Hampden to Kuttabul widened at a cost of $8.7 million.

Other projects getting cash include the Mackay Ring Road, Port Access Road, and Walkerston bypass.
