Canberra men are being urged to ditch the razor for the next few months for a good cause!
The Grow a Winter Beard campaign is being launched today at King O’Malley’s in Civic, to raise money for Menslink.
“It’s a fun way of getting a conversation going, talk about men’s health and surviving Canberra’s winter,” Managing Director Peter Barclay said.
“We’re hoping to raise $10,000 but I think the conversation that it opens up is more important.”
Some inspirational bearded men will be at the launch today, which kicks off at 1pm.
Elliot Whitehead from the Raiders will be there. He’s copped some flack in the past for his facial hair (all in jest of course), but he better get used to it, as he prepares to grow another one!
This will be the fourth year King O’Malley’s has supported a local charity with their Grow a Winter Beard campaign.
In previous years, the campaign raised money for Lifeline Canberra, the Leukaemia Foundation and White Ribbon.
Following this year’s campaign, King O’Malley’s has a competition to find the best beard in Canberra!
“We’ll be doing that in early August, so that’s a goal people can work towards as well,” Mr Barclay said.
So come on men of the nation’s capital – throw away your razors for a good cause!
