Council are putting a proposal forward so that Castle Hill will become home to permanent zip lines, a new walkway connected to the CBD, cafes, a projection light show and a summit green.

The team at Townsville City Council are putting plans together at the moment for ways to enhance the biggest icon in our city.

Rather than just being home to a stellar view and a great way to get free cardio, Council want to make the attraction more entertaining for locals.

In particular, millennials.

To do that, more commercial opportunities such as cafes or even a dedicated location for food trucks is what is being sketched up.

“Castle Hill is synonymous with Townsville and we want to make it even better for everyone,” says Major Jenny Hill.

“We need to make the most of our city’s natural assets and there’s nowhere more iconic than Castle Hill."

It's not just smashed avos and soy lattes that Council want to entertain you with, a projection light show has been included in the ideas as well.

“I’m incredibly excited by plans to use Castle Hill’s natural landscape as a canvas for light art shows similar to what’s done in Sydney with the Vivid Festival or in Alice Springs through the Parrtjima Festival,” Cr Hill said.

What do you think of the plans? Awesome? Or should we leave Castle Hill as it is? Tell us on Facebook!
