BUDGET: $500m In Pipeline For M1 Bottleneck Relief

A big cash splash to fix a notorious bottleneck on the M1 is set to be included in tomorrow night's federal budget.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison will reportedly dish out $27 billion on infrastructure and road projects across the nation, including $500 million to upgrade the pesky stretch from Daisy Hill to the Logan Motorway.

It would include widening the 6km stretch and overhaul a number of interchanges.

However Queensland Government wasn't happy, due to the 50/50 funding framework still in effect.

State Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the Coalition was playing favourites with the likes of New South Wales when it came to road upgrades.

"They're just offering us a really cheap deal here in Queensland not giving us our fair funding arrangement that's the same as other states," said Minister Bailey.

"They fund the M1 (in NSW) federally for 80 per cent of infrastructure, and yet they come to Queensland and offer us a measly 50 per cent and we're supposed to pick up the crumbs."

The announcement came after last month's $50 million pledge to upgrade Exit 41 at Yatala and Exit 49 at Pimpama.
