BRRR: Beach Suburb Cops Coldest August Morning On Record

Coolangatta has recorded its coldest August morning on record getting down to just 0.5 degrees around 5am this morning.

Elsewhere it was -3.2C at Canungra, while at Beaudesert got down to a low of -1.7C.

Things should start to heat up a little this weekend with some showers on the way.

We will see our best rainfall in six months from Friday with falls of up to 35mm expected.

However forecasters from the BOM says the widespread rain will barely make a dent in drought-stricken areas of the state.
