Britney Spears Responds To Claims She’s Being Forced To Stay In A Mental Health Facility

After checking into a mental health facility earlier this month due to extreme stress, Britney Spears has become the centre of an online campaign to ‘free’ the star from her conservatorship.

A podcast created by fans, Britney’s Gram recorded a ‘special emergency episode’ which sparked claims the singer was being held in the facility against her will. The hashtag #FreeBritney trended online and fans even took to the streets in Los Angeles in protest. 

Today, Spears has come back to the online world to address the rumours and calm down the public. 

“All is well,” the star said in a short Instagram video, “my family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately so I just needed time to deal.”

Spears continued in the caption…

“There’s been rumours, death threats to my family and my team… I am trying to take a moment for myself but everything that’s happening is just making is harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear. 

“My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment. You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! 

Your love and dedication is amazing but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful.”

Spears claimed the cause of the panic was due to fake emails crafted by her former manager, Sam Lufti. In the past, he had reportedly pretended to be the singer and was communicating with her team using fake email addresses.
