Just when you thought the weather couldn't get any more hectic, Brisbane's been hit with a tornado during severe storms this morning.

The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed the violent winds whipped up near Brisbane Airport, and a local photographer managed to catch it on tape at Lomandra Drive at Pinkenba.

It lasted just a couple of minutes and luckily, it didn't cause any major damage.

The area recorded a massive 90mm of rain in just an hour - a 1 in 50-year rain rate for Brisbane Airport.

Nearby, the Luggage Point rain gauge collected 101mm in an hour - a 1 in 100-year rain rate.
