Beach Tragedy As Man Dies At Snapper Rocks

An elderly man has died in a tragic surfing accident at Snapper Rocks this morning.

It is believed the man in his 70s may have fallen and hit his head on his board in the waters off Greenmount Beach at around 4.40am on Wednesday before being pulled to shore unconscious by a member of the public.

Paramedics arrived on scene at 4.57am but unfortunately were unable to revive him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was now being looked after by Queensland Police.
