The highly anticipated Eurovision Asia Song Contest is slowly becoming a reality and it seems the inaugural competition will be held on The Gold Coast, according to reports.

9News has reported that the Asia Pacific version of the popular European song competition will be coming to Australia from November 3 - December 7, 2019 and will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Although there has been no confirmation from Eurovision HQ or SBS, the claims stem from an alleged Gold Coast City Council report which expresses the aim to make the beach city the “home of Eurovision” down south.

Last month it was confirmed the Gold Coast would play host to the first Eurovision: Australia Decides contest. This live show will give the Australian public a say in the song and artists we send to Eurovision next year.

The eight-day Eurovision Asia event will see major artists from 16 Asia Pacific countries battle it out on stage to take home the title of best song and performance. Like Eurovision, the winner is expected to be determined through 50 percent of votes coming from a jury of industry professionals, and 50 percent coming from public votes.

All 16 countries have yet to be revealed, but China, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore and the UAE have all been rumoured to be in negotiations.

Imagining the performances from just these countries alone is giving me chills!

We will desperately be awaiting news from SBS!
