A chip-fryer fire at McDonald's has forced the evacuation of staff and shoppers from the Australia Fair food court.
Emergency crews were called to the Southport shopping centre about 12.15pm Wednesday.
McDonald's staff managed to stop the flames from spreading using the fire blanket, and the restaurant and food court have since re-opened.
Southport station officer John Roberts praised the quick thinking Maccas staff.
"The manager Jacob did a great job in managing staff and patrons, and it was a happy ending," he said.
