There are many Australia Day events happening around Gippsland this year! 

See below and find out if there is anything to check out in your town on 26th January:

Aberfeldy - Free community lunch and flag raising ceremony at Cullens Flat on Cullens Track from 12pm.  

Boolara - Community breakfast, activities for the whole family, Australiana Quiz, presentation of community recognition awards. Railway Park, Tarwin Street from 9am onwards.

Churchill - Free community breakfast, flag raising ceremony at 9:30am. Later, the announcement of Churchill Citizen of the Year. From 8am at Churchill Hotel in Balfour Place. 

Cloverlea - BBQ lunch and movie screening at Darnum/Ellinbank CFA on Darnum-Allambee Road from 12pm.  

Corinella - Free sausage sizzle, plus free jumping castle and mini golf. There will also be games, music and entertainment. Bring your own sunscreen, nibbles, drinks, picnic rugs or chairs. At the Foreshore Rotunda on Peters Street from 11am onwards. 

Cowes - Free BBQ and fun for people of all ages, including live bands and entertainment for kids. Run by the Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo. At Cowes Town Square from 11am onwards. 

Drouin - Free breakfast from 7:30am at the Anglican Parish Hall on Princes Way. Guest speaker will be Carolyn Turner from Warragul/Drouin Gazette. Entertainment by the Warragul Brass Ensemble and Margaret Schellekens. (Bookings essential for this part. RSVP by 21st January on 5624 2411 or at one of Council’s customer service centres.) Games, small animal farm, a jumping castle and music by the Lilico Road Band from 4pm to 8:30pm at Drouin's Civic Park. A free BBQ will happen from 6pm.  

Erica - Cricket match at Erica Caravan Park. $5 entry per person to play. Money raised will support the CFA. Sausage sizzle run by the Lions Club. Drinks available. BYO picnic chairs and drinks. Station Street Erica from 9am. Game begins at 10am.  

Foster - Free family fun! Dog parade, Lego building, lamington competition, and biggest pumpkin competition. Check out the displays, stalls, BBQ, and drinks. At 1pm there will be an official ceremony followed by results and prizes awarded for the above competitions. Station Road in Foster from 11am to 2pm. 

Hill End - Flag raising ceremony and national anthem, then a free two-course meal and trivia quiz. At the Hill End Community Centre on Paynters Road from 6pm. 

Inverloch - Sausage sizzle run by Inverloch Lions Club. Flag raising ceremony, singing, free flags and face painting too. There will be a presentation from a guest speaker. Tea and coffee available from the RSL. Seating available with undercover protection. At the Inverloch Community Hub War Memorial in Abeckett Street from 11am. Inverloch Classic Wooden Dinghy Regatta happens from 10am. 

Jindivick - Flag raising ceremony and national anthem. Free family BBQ. Bring a salad to share. At Kydd-Parke Reserve on Jacksons Track from 6pm.

Labertouche - Family cricket match and free dinner of lamb rolls and salads. Cold drinks will be available to buy. At the Labertouche Community Centre on Labertouche Road from 4:30pm.

Longwarry - Flag raising ceremony followed by a BBQ. There will be coffee, tea and scones. Family-friendly music, a jumping castle, face painting, CFA readiness display, along with vintage car and truck displays. There will also be pot plants, poetry, kids games and quizzes. Lots of giveaways. At Bennett Street Park from 11am to 2pm. 

Moe - A free community breakfast will take place from 8am. Flag raising ceremony at 9am with TS Latrobe cadets. Announcement of the Moe Lions Club Junior/Senior Citizen of the Year. Live entertainment from local musicians. Kids activities. Vehicles on display from Gippsland Historical Automobile Clubs Inc. Buildings open to inspect. Displays from the Woodies from Heritage Park. From 8am at Old Gippstown in Lloyd Street. Free entry. 

Morwell - Community breakfast, family fun activities. A pre-school children’s program will be running. Flag raising ceremony run by Morwell East Scout Group. Local musicians will be playing live. Pop-up photo booth. Morwell Lions Club Most Valuable Morwell Citizen will be awarded. Line-up of classic cars to check out. From 8am at Kernot Hall on Princes Drive/Monash Way.

Narracan - Free family BBQ. Bring a salad or dessert to share. At Narracan Public Hall on Narracan Connection Road from 7pm. 

Neerim - From 10am to 3pm, the Neerim District Hobbies & Motors Country Show. This will include lots of food, helicopter joy-flights over Neerim, a grand parade, massive steam engine display, vintage trucks and cars, dog high-jump and lawn mowing races. From 4pm, the Neerim Rodeo with various events. At Neerim Showgrounds. 

Neerim South - Free family BBQ with salads and Aussie sweets. There will also be games, competitions and Aussie music. Egg and spoon races and tunnel-ball for the whole family. At the Skate Park BBQ area on Neerim E Road from 5:30pm.

 

Pioneer Bay - Major fundraiser for the park. Buy a sausage, hamburger and can of soft drink. Awesome talents of Scat. Face painting for the kids. Silent auction with great items donated. Games for the kids. Daisy Avenue Reserve from midday.

Pound Creek - BBQ, salads and sweets provided by the Pound Creek Rural Fire Brigade Ladies Auxiliary. Pound Creek Rural Fire Brigade will be there. Entertainment provided by the South Gippsland Brass Band. Guest speaker and a flag raising ceremony, with singing of the Australian national anthem. At Pound Creek Fire Station on Inverloch-Venus Bay Road from 11am until 2:30pm.

Tanjil South - Flag raising ceremony followed by a free family BBQ lunch including refreshments. Aussie music, a quiz and prizes for best dressed Aussie. At Tanjil South Hall on Moe/Willow Grove Road from 12pm. 

Tetoora Road - Flag raising ceremony and national anthem, then free family BBQ dinner with meat and bread provided. At the Tetoora Road Community Centre from 6pm. 

Thorpdale - Flag raising ceremony and national anthem, then a free family sausage sizzle. At Pioneer Park on Mirboo North-Trafalgar Road from 10:30am. 

Toongabbie - Flag raising ceremony at 8:30am plus a community BBQ breakfast. Presentation of the Toongabbie Citizen of the Year between 9am and 10am. At Village Green in Scott Street. 

Trafalgar - Free breakfast. No bookings necessary. Citizen of the Year presentation and guest speaker too. At Trafalgar Public Hall on Contingent Street from 8am.

Traralgon - Community BBQ from 8am to 10am. Flag raising ceremony at 8:30am. Presentation from Australia Day Ambassador Mr Huss Mustafa OAM. Sky Fitness activities. Traralgon City Band and local artists performing live. Traralgon Farmers Market will be on at Victory Park Gardens. At 9am, the Heart Walk takes place with a free raffle for walkers after 10am. At Victory Park in Whittakers Road. 

Warragul - Flag raising ceremony by the Scouts and Girl Guides. Special performance by the Warragul Municipal Band. Formal Citizenship Ceremony to welcome our Shire’s newest Australian citizens. There will also be a free community BBQ with vegetarian options. At Civic Park on Clifford Street/Civic Place from 10:15am for a 10:30am start. 

Wonthaggi - Breakfast from 7am. Community awards and entertainment between 9am and 10:30am. At the Wonthaggi Community Arts Centre in Graham Street from 7am onwards. 

Yallourn North - Community BBQ from 8am and 10am. Flag raising ceremony by TS Latrobe Cadets at 8:45am. At Lions Park in Reserve Street.  

Yarragon - Flag raising ceremony with CFA. Free bacon and egg sandwiches for breakfast. Music by local talents, a guest speaker, traditional thong throwing contest and activities by the CFA. At Howard Park on Campbell Street from 8:30am. 

Yinnar - Community breakfast and entertainment in Main Street from 7:30am to 9am. Flag raising and Yinnar Citizen/Young Citizen of the Year awards between 9am and 9:30am.

Yinnar SouthCommunity breakfast and entertainment between 7:30am and 9am. Flag raising ceremony and announcement of Yinnar Citizen/Young Citizen of the Year award from 9am to 9:30am. At Martin Walker Reserve on Gilberts Road.
