Adelaide Hills Popular With Aussie Home Buyers

House hunters are heading for the Hills.

A new property market report from realestate.com.au lists Crafers West as the nation's third most searched suburb behind South Hobart and Battery Point, Tasmania.

Aldgate comes in at number five.

$700,000 is thought to get you a four bedroom, two bathroom home on a half acre.

The report suggests the Hills outranks the Plains because Baby Boomers are downsizing, making a larger number of family homes available.

Experts say the Adelaide market is "relatively red hot" in terms of price growth compared to the rest of the country.

Chief Economist Nerida Conisbee explains why Adelaide is largely protected from any price crash that might be threatening major cities like Melbourne and Sydney.
