Last night was not okay.

Last night, Australian Survivor fans were left DEVASTATED as fan-favourite and arguably Australia’s best ever player, Luke Toki, was voted off the island in 4th place.

Recognised as a major threat a little too early in Season 2, Luke was voted off in 7th place, so coming in to this season as the show’s first returning player, it’s insane that Luke lasted longer than he did the first time. Not many players can do that.

Luke is Australia’s ‘greatest to have never won’, like America’s Cirie Fields or Rob Cesternino, they are players who JUST came up short because no one can win sitting next to them in the final tribal.

But one of the other reasons why Luke being sent home hurt a little more than usual was because he actually needed the $500,000 prize money.

The FIFO worker and his wife, Mary, have two young sons with autism and a baby girl with cystic fibrosis, so the money would have made a huge difference for his family.

Although we can’t do anything about Luke not taking out the title of Sole Survivor, we can do something about the money.

Fan Dave Skow from Wagga Wagga has set up a Go-Fund-Me page for Luke and Mary with a target of $500,000… and already (as of writing) they’ve raised over $70,000!

The Hit Network’s Herbie and Dane spoke with the organiser on air this morning to explain why he made the page and confirm that he has been in communication with Luke's wife Mary about the fundraiser. Take a listen:
