Dozens of people have been charged following a massive day of action from police yesterday.

Detectives from the Gold Coast CIB and the Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrols group executed 28 search warrants on Wednesday morning, targeting drug activity and property offences.

Homes were raided at Varsity Lakes, Tugun, Burleigh, Burleigh Waters, Currumbin, Palm Beach, Currumbin Waters, Chevron Island, Labrador, Ashmore, Southport, Coomera, Upper Coomera, Oxenford, Holmview, Ormeau and Pimpama.

The operation resulted in 40 people being charged on 113 offences, including; break and enter, supplying dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of weapons, stealing, evade police and possession of property suspected of being stolen.

Police allege they uncovered a significant quantity of dangerous drugs, such as methylamphetamines (Ice), cocaine, cannabis, and steroids, as well as a stolen motorcycle, stolen watches, stolen diamonds, knuckledusters, a shorten shotgun and an electrical antipersonnel device.

All those charged were due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court over the month of March.

Further arrests were expected.
