A 27 year old Douglas woman charged with fraud over an alleged fundraising scam has appeared in Court.

The case has been adjourned to the 13th of December.

Police allege the woman had received around $55,000 after fraudulently claiming she needed the money to treat her stage five ovarian cancer.

Officers raided the woman's home yesterday afternoon after receiving tip off's from Crimestoppers.

Detective Inspector Chris Lawson says it's disappointing to hear and hopes it doesn't put people off from donating to causes they believe in.

Police are still investigating what the money was spent on.
