The Federal and State Governments have joined forces, announcing a $2.5 million boost for forestry research.

The investment has been made through the Mount Gambier Centre of the National Institute for Forest Products Innovation, for the second round of research proposals to grow the future of forestry.

The project is hoped to help boost sustainability, jobs and economic benefits to Australia's forestry industry and South Australia.

Officials will now be looking at proposals that show innovation in areas like bioenergy, improving workplace safety and efficiency, and enhancing forest growth.
