Term 1 hasn't been a complete write off for the Oonoonba State School community.

On the final day of term they have opened their doors after a mammoth clean up effort.

Since the monster monsoon hit Townsville, the school suffered extensive damage seeing students slotting into other schools for term 1.

Students have been attending William Ross State High School and Wulguru State School while the hard work of rebuilding got under way.

The Oonoonba State School community will return to their refurbished classrooms this morning after a well-deserved celebration.

Congratulations to everyone involved, enjoy a break over the school holidays!
