A Newcastle syndicate has won $15 million after sharing the division one prize in last night's $30 million Powerball jackpot.

Their winning ticket was bought from Newcastle City Newsagency in Hunter Street.

The syndicate has 25 members who each take home $606,146.87.

The second winning ticket was bought from Cabramatta in Sydney's west.

It's not the first time the Newcastle syndicate has won a division one prize.

“Apart from the syndicate wins, we’ve also sold a $6 million Powerball winning entry in 2005 and a $2 million Saturday Lotto winning entry in 2007. It’s a very good store isn’t it!” newsagency owner Robyn Hudson said.

"We put this syndicate on whenever the jackpot goes over $10 million and we have the same syndicate members returning each time."

“The syndicate members are from the local region and are aged in their 50s to 70s. Many are unregistered players so we look forward to breaking the news to them that they’ve won!”

The winning numbers the draw were 28, 38, 23, 31, 24 and 6, while the Powerball number was 12.
