The detailed design of the new Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium could be released by mid-August, according to Shire of Esperance chief executive officer Matthew Scott.
The tender for the $7.2 million project would be out in September and the shire hoped to begin construction as early as November where a three court stadium will be built, with plans for a fourth court as well.
Taking advantage of the great businesses in town, the design is being done by a local design firm in Esperance, trying to keep the work local as much as possible.
Not only will this stadium cater to indoor sports for the next 30 to 40 years, it also has the potential to attract regional sporting competitions and entertainment to the Esperance region, which they currently can’t host because the stadium doesn’t meet the standards required.
