Authorities are investigating the death of over one dozen turtles in the Ross River.
This week 17 adult male turtles were found dead, tangled in a net at the Ross River.
The Department of Environment will be handing out hefty to fines to those responsible, once identified.
It's believed the fines will be more that $120,000.
The turtles were discovered at the footbridge near the Weir State School on Monday.
