We aren't sure where they bunker down when they aren't in our sights, but it's becoming evident that ants are moving into Townsville homes.
We're smack bang in the middle of a North Queensland wet season and the little guys are on the move.
It's been said for years that if you have ants climbing up the walls of your lounge room, laundry, dining room, bedroom, bathroom (you get the point) it usually means there's rain on the way!
Well, that's the rumour anyway.
We'd LOVE it if the indications were true and we're definitely guilty of the old 'must be rain on the way' conversation around the house.
BUT if you're not enjoying the new room mates, there's a few things you can try to get them moving out.
Cinnamon- The smell will turn ants off from entering your house. You can use ground cinnamon from your spice rack and dust it onto the entry points where the little dudes are breaking in.
Lemon Juice Water- Combine lemon juice and water and pour it into a spray bottle. Give the high-traffic ant areas a spray with the mix consistently for the best results.
Vinegar- Open whatever vinegar you have in house and mix it with water. Just like the lemon juice water, add it to a spray bottle and spray it around the trail of ants. The strong smell of vinegar should deter the ants from hanging around- GOOD LUCK!
